When a death is reported

In some cases, after reviewing the available information the coroner may be satisfied that the person died of natural causes. 

Providing there are no concerns relevant to the cause of death, the coroner will agree for the doctor to issue the Medical Cause of Death Certificate.

Once completed, the Medical Certificate of Cause of Death will be sent electronically to the Medical Examiner for scrutiny who will then send it on to the relevant registrar. If the death occurred in -

• Hull information will be sent to the Hull Register Office
• East Riding the death will need to be registered at an office in the East Riding.
